GRANDE PRAIRIE ROMAN CATHOLIC SEPARATE SCHOOL DIVISION ISSUES CLARIFICATION REGARDING RELATIONSHIP WITH GP EDUCATION FOUNDATION
The Grande Prairie Roman Catholic Separate School Division (the “School Division”) is issuing this notice to clarify its relationship with the Grande Prairie Education Foundation (the “Foundation”) to ensure transparency and avoid public misunderstanding.
The Foundation is a separate and independent legal entity from the School Division. It is not owned, operated, or controlled by the School Division, and is not an affiliate, agent, or governing body of the School Division. The Foundation has its own separate board of directors and operates independently in accordance with its governing documents and applicable legislation, which is distinct from the School Division.
While the Foundation has historically supported initiatives benefiting students within division schools, the School Division alone is responsible for the governance, administration, and operation of its schools and educational programs. Decisions regarding school division programming, funding, and operations are made by the school division in accordance with its statutory mandate and governance framework as set by the Province of Alberta in the Education Act.
Any activities, fundraising efforts, programs, or public communications undertaken by the Foundation are independently managed by the Foundation and do not represent GPCSD policy or direction unless expressly confirmed in writing by the school division.
The Grande Prairie and District Catholic School Division values community support for students and remains committed to ensuring that programs and services within its schools are delivered in a manner that is transparent, accountable, and aligned with its responsibilities to students and families.
For questions regarding GPCSD programs or services, members of the public are encouraged to contact the school division directly at: [email protected]
