Sensory Integration at GPCSD
We know that sensory needs come from the basis of one of our five senses. Our five senses need to work collaboratively together to process all the information one is being exposed to. At any moment a child may feel a tag on their clothes, hear a noise of the alarm in the hall, see a object out of place, taste a new texture in their lunch or smell an odour in the class; these examples could set off a child's routine. Having strategies in place and equipment available to children is a means of being proactive to meet student needs. Giving students the tools for success always needs to be our goal.
