Advanced Placement 9-12
The Advanced Placement Program is designed to provide motivated high school students with post-secondary-level academic courses. This rigorous academic program offers students a head start in successfully navigating academic challenges they will encounter at post-secondary schools. Based on their performance on AP examinations, students can earn credit, advanced placement, or both, for university and college. Students' achievements in AP courses are celebrated with College Board awards and scholarships from most universities including the University of Alberta.
Choose Advanced Placement & Pre-Advanced Placement (Grades 9-12) at St. Joe's in 2011-2012
Are you ready for a unique learning experience that will help you succeed in college? Through AP's college-level courses and exams, you can earn college credit and advanced placement, stand out in the admission process, and learn from some of the most skilled, dedicated, and inspiring teachers in the world.
A Different Kind of Class
From the moment you enter an AP classroom, you'll notice the difference—in the teacher's approach to the subject, in the attitude of your classmates, in the way you start to think. In AP classrooms, the focus is not on memorizing facts and figures. Instead you'll engage in intense discussions, solve problems collaboratively, and learn to write clearly and persuasively.
Find Your Passion
English, Social Studies, Math, & Science are the core courses in our program.

How Do I Enrol?
Once you've decided to take the AP challenge it's easy to enrol. Talk to an AP teacher or the AP Coordinator at your school about the course you want to take. Discuss the course's workload and any preparation you might need. One course in Advanced Placement is often enough.
